Our Powerful Enemy Hates Us, But Jesus Is Stronger and Will Save Us
We have a powerful enemy; and not only does he hate every human being made in the image of God, but his bitterest enmity is against God and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. When men give themselves as willing slaves to Satan, he manifests no special enmity toward them; he has no conflict with them. But all who bear the name of Christ he hates with a deadly hatred. He knows he can grieve Jesus by deceiving them, by hurting them, making them weak, incapable of doing service as God requires under their Captain, Christ Jesus. Satan will let those rest in a measure of peace who are willing captives, bound with chains to his chariot. But when the message of mercy reaches his bondslaves, and they seek to wrench themselves from his power that they may follow the True Shepherd, then, if he can, he binds them with additional chains to hold them in his possession. The conflict really begins when the captive tugs at his chain, longing to be free. When the human agent cooperates with the heavenly intelligences, when faith takes hold upon Christ, then the Stronger than the strong man armed is the helper of the soul. Man is strengthened by the Holy Spirit to obtain his freedom. — {8LtMs, Lt 11, 1893, par. 20}
The enemy of souls is filled with intense hatred against every endeavor to influence the youth in the right direction. He hates everything which will give correct views of God and our Saviour, and his efforts are especially directed against all who are placed in a favorable position to receive light from heaven. — {CE 26.3}
Satan hates those who have taken hold of the strength of Christ, but those who have made a full surrender are reconciled to God, and he will be their defense. — {RH August 6, 1889, par. 8}
God loves you and is unwilling that you should perish in the general ruin. He invites you to leave those things which hinder your spiritual advancement, and to find in Him that strength and consolation which you need. — {4T 112.3}
God loves you, and will save you if you come in his appointed way; but if you rebel, and choose your own course, it will be to your eternal loss. — {T17 144.2}
Jesus, the world's Redeemer, stands between Satan and every soul. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” And those who lay their sins upon Christ through faith in his righteousness, will come off victorious. As our Mediator, Jesus was fully able to accomplish this work of redemption; but O, at what a price! The sinless Son of God was condemned for the sin in which he had no part, in order that the sinner, through repentance and faith, might be justified by the righteousness of Christ, in which he had no personal merit. The sins of every one who has lived upon the earth were laid upon Christ, testifying to the fact that no one need be a loser in the conflict with Satan. Provision has been made that all may lay hold of the strength of him who will save to the uttermost all who come unto God by him. — {RH May 23, 1899, par. 10}
…They have one God and one Saviour; and one Spirit—the Spirit of Christ—is to bring unity into their ranks. — {9T 189}
Let the missionaries of the cross proclaim that there is one God, and one Mediator between God and man, who is Jesus Christ the Son of the Infinite God. This needs to be proclaimed throughout every church in our land. — {7 LtMs, Ms 40, 1891}
The Majesty of heaven, the only begotten Son of the true and living God, opened the way for you to come to him, by giving his life as a sacrifice on Calvary's cross. — {RH January 23, 1894, par. 12}
Will you dishonor your Creator and Redeemer by choosing the great apostate as your leader? Christ, the only begotten Son of God, came to this world to redeem the fallen race. He has given us evidence of His great power. He will enable those who receive Him to build up characters free from the tendencies that Satan reveals. You can resist Satan and all his temptations. The battle will be won, the victory gained, by him who chooses Christ as his leader, determined to do right because it is right. — {18LtMs, Ms 130, 1903, par. 28}
